Is this a chicken?

Me too! It was extremely windy the week it was found so maybe it blew away from the nest? I find it hard to believe that a baby chick would wander away from its buddies...

Okay so not a crow. I just googled baby crow images and the feet are wrong and the beak is different.
I have Naked Neck chicks and they do look very different and dinosaur-like compared to other breeds.
I hope some others chime in here and we can figure it out.
Wow! I just looked up naked neck chickens, very cool. Hadn’t seen those before. And yes I agree, it doesn’t look like a crow either...

Oh yes NN are very cool lol. I’m enjoying them quite a bit.
The chick just ran up to you after you put out some scratch?
Sounds like it’s used to people.
I just looked up photos of juvenile Jersey Giants and there’s some similarities.
This photo is a 4 week old Jersey Giant chick.

Not exactly, it ran up to the food, but was pretty skittish. It hopped into the kennel and I was able to shut it in there. But it was getting fairly close to me (within 4-5 feet) of me before I put the food out and didn’t seem scared.

I’m going to look up some more photos of that jersey giant. I also looks a lot like a black Maran or a black austrolorp - but the lack of comb is throwing me off

Probably the only way to tell for sure is to let it grow up. It may be it's a mix. Post pics of whatever it grows into, you're gonna have an interesting bird on your hands whatever it is.

That’s my plan, I was hoping to be able to tell by now. But since they are all getting along no reason not to. It was a bit of a bully the first day and I was concerned. But after a few “time outs” in solitary confinement it’s been peaceful. I’ll definitely post more pictures as it grows. I’d love to solve the mystery eventually!

Oh! Interesting .It looks a bit like a black spainish turkey poult?

Hmmm... maybe? Do the long necks grow in later? It has a slender neck, but it’s not long. Although that would explain the lack of a comb? Wouldn’t it be bigger? Maybe I assumed it was the same age as my chicks because it was almost as big, but maybe it’s younger and just a big chick?

Maybe, as far as I know, turkeys and peafowl look more baby chicken shaped when they are younger. Has it began strutting?
