Is this a dog or a coyote?

That's a coyote for sure, looks like the ones we have around here. My peeps are put up at night because the coyotes love the run the creek and i don't want to take the chance of them becoming supper

That sure looks like a coyote. I feel I should also play devil's advocate though; even as a person that has worked with my state's fish and game, and has had a lot of dog experience, I have seen mixed-breed dogs that look very, very coyote-ish indeed.

Coyotes also look different depending on where you live. Coyotes in the Northeastern US, for example, look quite a bit different from their western counterparts.

Yep, that is a coyote.

Nambroth - Adding to your "devil's advocate", my SIL owns a dog that looks exactly like a coyote. The dog was shot clean through numerous years ago because someone mistook her for a coyote. Granted, SIL shouldn't have let her run free because she was on someone else's property when she was shot. The dog is still alive to this day. She's deaf and very old now but still hanging on.

Coyote and it looks like there may be one in the background, see the eyes glowing upper left above the coyote in the photo.

I was wondering about that light, too. It turns out it's the light on the house through the trees. The long light to the right is the street light reflecting in the street behind us. you can see the same two lights in this picture a couple of nights later.

Coyote fore sure, I hunt them. That's a nice one though, looks like a young male.
