Is this a drake?

This one isn't quacking, unlike the white mallard in the background. I don't know what breed, possibly some kind of runner crossed with a pekin. I'm hoping it's a drake.

Looks like a Golden 300 Duck. How old are they?

Can't really tell by looking unless he/she is fully mature. The drakes have a raspy sounding voice. It's easy to tell. You can listen to some on youtube.

He hatched late August, so about 2 months?

He's quiet so it's hard to tell so far. Neither duck is very vocal, but Yuki, the white mallard, does quack loudly on occasion.

He needs to molt again at around 3 to 4 months old and adult plumage will grow in.

It's obvious when you hear the "QUACK" from the ducks, sometimes the boys seem to be shy or just not as chatty as the girls. Pick him up, disturb him, get them excited with mealworms and the girls just don't shut up... "QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK!!!" while the boys just go "squeak squeak rasp rasp". YouTube does have some good instruction videos.

I would lean towards drake if he's not quacking. My drakes always would peep longer than the hens. But no guarantee at this age. If he's a drake, he'll get a lovely shimmering greenish brown head and a curl in the tail, plus the raspy sound.
