Well he has changed his mind his daughter won't let him trade that many so now its 4 black old english hens and one roo for my 3 pullets and 1 Roo?

No one can answer that for you. There isn't an established chicken exchange rate. Will you be happier with keeping all the birds you have now or will you be happier if you add the new birds to your flock? Answer that question & you'll have your answer.

Any trade is a fair trade that is mutually agreed upon by both individuals. Be sure to complete the trade as is expected by both of you and if you are both happy then it is a fair trade.

I once had a beautiful dog which produced very nice pups. She was an outstanding female and I let the little Lady have her for a spayed female which I later placed in a private home. Later I found out the lady was bad mouthing me since she felt that the deal was too good to be true. I offered the spayed female back and brought my baby back home. The woman to this day doesn't understand that I was giving her the world and a break into dogs ,that I had no interest in the spay female at all. I was doing her a favor. Make sure that you are both happy with the trade and look honestly at what you want.
