Is this a good pip?

Yes, the internet is pretty amazing. It is so nice to be able to get answers and reassurance quickly. And so many different experiences all in the same place!

I am posting this pic because I took it...2 of the chicks have red bumps where it was attached. I put some antibiotic creme on them. We had to snip the stuff off 1 chick, it mostly dried but didnt come off. Had to be irritating. Does this look like albumin/white?

Thanks again for everyone's input!

That is the 'leftovers', lol... is hard to describe exactly what it is... they don't have an umbilical cord, but they have something similar... and the yellowish/greenish goop is just like the stuff cleaned off of newborn babies, the 'leftovers' from birth/hatch... if they hatched too soon, then they could have still had active blood flow in the 'cord' and it would've bled if you cut it... that is why I said leave it if it was bloody... but you have no blood, just goop, lol... hope that makes some sense...

LOL I call it "egg goop".

I feel better calling it 'stuff' if you guys call it 'goop'!! As long as there is no technical term!

Thanks again--We read a lot about hatching and we got the basics. But some of the little messy details are not included. I am detail oriented.....I want to know everything or I worry about it! Now we know. Happy that we had it easy so far.

I totally understand! I am the same way, lol... that's why I went with longer description... it probably has a technical term, but it just doesn't rate important enough for us to worry 'bout it... stuff, goop, gunk, egg goobers, etc, work just fine! lol
Glad you had such a great success on your first try!!
