That would depend on the age of the bird. Does it crow? I would guess not since you wouldn't be asking if you had heard that. If the bird is 5 months old it COULD be a hen, close to laying. If 2 months old, cockerel for sure.

see how his tail feathers curve at the end? thats 100% a rooster my friend. none the less, a rooster can be your best friend

I'm still waiting to hear the bird's age. Those aren't pointy sickle or saddle feathers and I've had several pullets with "curving over" feathers at the base of their tails. And there are no hackle feathers

Coloring doesn't look right for a ranger. But depending on age, it might just be in one of the mid juvenile moults.
