I have been looking at photo's and the best I can tell, Honky looks like a New Hampshire Red. He has a different sound than any chicken I have owned. He sounds like he makes the hhhhhh sound, hhhhaaaaw, hhhaaaaw. (is this crazy?) It's how he got his name.

He could be a new hampshire, just a hatchery strain or pet quality one.

Most likely a cross of some sort.

I've found that some chickens are chatty and make the hhhhhh sound. Not too strange.

So he's a hines 57 variety? Lol We bought he and the other chickens from Ideal Poultry. He was supposed to be a she and a Brown Danish Leghorn. Honky is one in a million and he certainly has some interesting quirks.

I have seen hatchery birds shipped as new hampshires that feathered out like this. Not uncommon.

However, partridge rock is much closer. Definitely not a leghorn, though.

White earlobes don't develop until the bird is older. Eventhough the OP didn't give us an age, I would assume this is a young bird based on feather development.
