does anyone have any idea if this is a roo or hen or what breed or mix it might be. It is 6 weeks old and was hatched out of a mixed flock. no comb but it has some green feathers on its back that make me think roo.

i always think this is the funniest chicken stage. we call it 'velocoraptor'.
sure is easy to see the dinosaur in them eh?

i vote roo.
breed, as you say 'mixed'

good luck!

I agree, pullet.Probably Australorp. Looks like my 10 week old. They get green showing in their feathers. It is very pretty.

I think its a pullet, just because it has green feathers dont mean its a roo.

Looks like a Australorp to me too!! I have two of them at the same age as yours. They are ugly!

They act like roos too.( They walk real tall, have thick legs, and won't warm up to me no matter how hard I try.) But I'm sure they are both hens. They are a big bird and I was told are pretty and friendly when they get big . So I think they will come around with time. Yours looks like a hen to me too . They are hard to tell. I'm not sure but I think they are late getting a comb so it's really hard to tell.
