I got my chicks 4 days ago. I got a faverolle, a SLW, and a couple of silkies. I thought it was so sweet how the SLW acted like a little mama to the silkies. But now I'm wondering if the SLW is actually a roo since "she" seems so protective of the others. This started yesterday (3 days old). Whenever I put my hand in the brooder, "she'll" come flying out towards me. "She" has never attacked me, but just places herself between me and whatever chick happens to be close by. Does that behavior seem rooster-ish to anyone? Are there other behavioral signs of a roo?
