Some black hens will have a green sheen to their feathers in the sun, but that is a definite rooster tail. He also has the pointy feathers on his neck and the long skinny feathers hanging down the side right in front of his tail.
A lot of people refer to both Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers as the same thing. Ameraucanas are a specific breed; Easter Eggers are a mix, presumably carrying a blue egg gene so that they lay blue or green eggs (but not necessarily, they can still lay brown eggs). It tends to be a sensitive topic, especially with Ameraucana breeders. Hatcheries and feed stores generally do NOT carry true Ameraucanas, but often market their mixes as such.
