Hi y'all. I'm thinking this bird is going to be a rooster. But I'm used to silkies and not knowing til later on so I'm not sure how other birds progress. I'm not sure what breed it is. It's got 5 toes, hairy feet, frizzled white feathers, and light skin. It's about 17-18 weeks old.

If it has 5 toes, its likely a frizzle silkie/cochin cross. Cochins only have 4 toes, but silkies have 5. Comb looks a little too prominent to be female, but at 17-18 weeks, laying could happen very soon. I would have said definite rooster, but they usually crow much sooner than that too. Tail feathers look male too, but being frizzled makes it more difficult to tell.

ETA - also meant to say beautiful bird!! :love

17-18 weeks old, looks a pullet. Probably a sizzle if it has five toes; it is just showing more of the frizzled cochin genetics. 17-18 weeks is over 4 months old which means her comb could be turning red because she's getting ready to lay. I don't see any pointy hackle feathers either. Cute chicken!
