Is this, 5 week old, white Australorp a rooster or a hen ??
(regular/full size, not a bantam size)
I'm thinking it's a roo

it makes the calling noise when they find food but i know hens do that as well for their chicks.
other noises it makes, is making me thinking its a roo, and no crowing yet lol think that's a bit early at only 5 weeks old. Probably too early to tell if it a roo or hen.

He’s a cockerel.

Pullet and cockerel are the terms used for chickens under 1 years old. They become hen and rooster when they’re 1 years old.

Thank you @featheredplanets, always learning something new everyday :highfive:
but it did make me laugh, as we always shorten words, is this a pull or cock, sorry couldn't help myself :lau

ahwell may have 6 cockerels :(
sometimes i look at them and think shit i may have 9 cockerels:he

x2. White Australorp or Austra-White? If the latter, it might explain the early comb (which would still mean cockerel; it's just rare for my 'Lorps to develop a comb that early).

EDT: Austra-Whites are a cross between an Australorp and a White Leghorn.

pure Australorp, colour white
