Is this a Rooster

6 months old, “she” should be laying.
Not completely true... we are just barely heading out of winter, getting more daylight... and it's a completely individual thing as to when they will mature and start laying. Many factors at play include flock dynamics, predator load, nutrition, space, strain, that type of stuff. :)

Agree on the word *should*... meaning what's generally true isn't always. ;)

She could be laying, i get eggs everyday.
So is there another you suspect of being a COCKEREL?

Rooster, cock, and hen are terms used for chickens that are over a year old. Under a year they are referred to as pullet or cockerel... technically speaking. ;)

Doesn't really matter most of the time for basic conversation. But when speaking about behavioral issues, it's very relative. :)

Comb and waddles say if she isn’t already, she will be soon. Wrong word choice with “should”. I should have used the word could...lol. Whether she is laying or not, she is not a he.
I'm just being a hag! :smack

Kidding. :)

It really is amazing how many things I have seen in chickens that "should" or "shouldn't" be the case! Only reason I mention it. I learn something new every day.

Out of all the birds I've raised (well over 100), I haven't yet seen a hen crow or grow spurs... but I have read on here that it does in fact happen. :hmm Leghorn and sex links DO go broody. And Silkies CAN bully large fowl... the list goes on and on I'm sure. But that's what's so exciting about chickens. They keep ya guessing. :p

NEVER yet seen a girl with saddle feathers like the males as demonstrated in the picture provided by @sylviethecochin
