Is this a sign I need goats?

I got my pygmy for free of craigslist - she's one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. Just be sure that before you say "I Do" to the goats you go there and take a look at them. The last thing you want to do is take on someone else's problems when you may not be equipped to. Good luck in your search for goats, though - it's so much fun!

Be very careful with free animals, but I'm sure you know that. Keep them quarantined for at least 2 weeks (we do 4 weeks for adults, 2 weeks for kids) just in case they have something that can be passed on.

We learned our lesson with "free" animals after we got our 2 "free" danes. The male had to have his tail amputated because it was broken and not healing due to "happy tail" (he couldn't stop wagging it), He had heartworms and needed to get neutered. The female had heartworms and died in recovery after her spay. So all in all our "free" dogs cost us about $1300...the former owner was a backyard breeder and the female lost 6 of the 9 pups on her last delivery so she wanted to take them to the pound. I took them instead.

I distrust anything for free from that experience.

We won't be getting those lovely ladies, but I wish we could. We just don't have anywhere to keep goats right now. Maybe later this spring after we get the new chicken run done.

And we're improving the shed attached to the chicken coop to be my incubator/brooder room!!! It's going to be awesome!!!
