A several years ago, as a teaching assistant, I rescued a pair of chicks from a classroom incubator that were the victims of cannibalism. However, only one chick survived their injuries. I ended up raising, with the help of my mom, the surviving chick until we could find a new home for her/him. Gonzo went on to join a flock of free range pet chickens. :) Even after he/she has left our home so long ago, I still wonder what breed of chicken he/she was/is. I also wonder if Gonzo's name should have been changed to Camilla. Does anyone know if this chicken is a Turken or is this some other breed? Does anyone know if this is a young roo or pullet? Thank you in advance for any info.

Meet Gonzo:
Gonzo right before he/she went to his/her new home.

Gonzo at a young age. This is the earliest picture I have found so far.

Gonzo was definitely a Naked Neck...how old was he/she?

Since NNs normally get huge, red wattles early, I'm leaning towards Gonzo being a girl :)

I agree with the above, female turken. I <3 them :-)

Leadwolf1, I think Gonzo was about 2-4 weeks old in the bottom picture and about 8 weeks old in the top picture.

Thank you everyone for helping to clear up the mystery of Gonzo.

Although she was only with our family for about 8 weeks, she was a friendly, inquisitive, and unique bird.
