Is this a worm? Meat/Blood spot?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I’ve never seen this in an egg before. Today I poached a few eggs and when I put it on my plate it had a long, dark, worm-like thing in the yolk. I pulled it out, and it has a thin middle and bulbous ends. I’ve seen small blood and meat spots before... but this was just weird. Could my chickens have worms and one found it’s way inside a forming egg? It’s been a while since they’ve been wormed. It’s about 1/2” long. My daughter refuses to eat any more eggs and thinks we all have worms now lol!

I don't think it's a worm. More an unusual sloughing of tissue from the reproductive tract. It's a sure appetite deterrent.
