In the country somewhere
I ordered an Ameraucana from Myers, (blue) cost me a pretty penny to! Anyway I had a couple die the day after I got them and am not sure if it was one of them. I then bought a couple more and am not sure if this one is from Myers or one I got from TSC. It's legs are slate and it goes down to the feet but then the toes are like a speckled pinkish slate color!

Thank you! :fl

I bought blue but apparently it's their choice on what is given. So now I'm trying to figure out color and if it's a pullet and a true Ameraucana !
Can't help you on gender or if it is pure or not but it looks like Splash color, which is basically a double dose of blue, sometimes when you buy blue you get birds from a blue to blue breeding, which are 25% splash, 50% blue, and 25 % black. Splash will have blue or [only possible if bred to blue or splash] splash chicks :D

Thank you, I think I understand what your saying. Genetics is not my thing. The reason I think this is a real one is because my EE's face with the beard and what not does not look the same as this one. Maybe I should add the EE photo to this one!

Since Splash is not a recognized color [don't know why since it is basically 'true' blue] for show purposes it would not be considered pure even if it is from pure stock. But if it is a hen it may still lay the pure type blue eggs. :D

Splash is white with black correct? Because this one looks like it might have black/blue undertones if that makes sense.

You got the splash Ameraucana from Meyer. The partridgey colored ones are Easter Eggers from TSC.

Meyer sold you the right thing, and they are one of the very few hatcheries (I can only think of two others) that are selling "real" Ameraucanas. They are selling Blue Ameraucanas, but state on their site that you may get Blue, Black, or Splash. Here's the quote from their website, in the description of the bird: As with other “blue” breeds, the trait does not breed true. In addition to blue you may receive splash and/or black as well. Chick color is hatchery choice.

That's pretty normal. Technically, your splash Am is an EE according to the Ameraucana Breeder's Club, since splash isn't a recognized Am color. However, I personally think that's BS since you will get splash in a breeding program that produces Blue. Here's a great page on chicken color genetics: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/basic-chicken-color-genetics

Hope that helps! Breed your splash baby to a black Am and you'll get 100% blue offspring.
