Is this an Ameraucana?

Does it have to be black amaracana or can it be a black EE? And it is a pullet, correct?

It's a pullet.

It can be a black anything to get blue offspring. However, I'd worry about a black EE. Since your EE is a mixed breed bird, chances are great that the black isn't "pure" and is hiding some other color genes under there. I think you might get some odd leakage from a black EE.

On the other hand, if you crossed your splash Am with a Black Copper Marans, you'd get all blue Olive Eggers. I have a similar cross--a blue Ameraucana roo over blue copper Marans hens, and the birds are gorgeous. Don't know what color the eggs are yet, though.

It would produce blue Ameraucanas 100% of the time. Those blues, if bred together or to another blue, would then produce black/blue/splash again.

Basically, Black = 2 nonblue genes, Blue = one nonblue and one blue gene and Splash = two blue genes. so black will always carry over a non-blue gene [that is all it has], and splash will always carry over a blue one, resulting in 100% blue when bred together.
