I bought her today from the feed store, but upon closer look she really doesn’t look like an australorpe bitty. She’s nearly all-black aside from a pale spot of fluff on her butt. Is she likely another kind of breed?

Here is my austrolorp, As a baby. Where did you buy it from and what where all the other chicks with it? I know she had more black when we first brought her home, but yours has a lot of black so im thinking it isnt a australorp.

That’s what I’ve been thinking. Australorpe bitties don’t have so much black— all of the others it came with, and the bunch I raised previously, were half black and half white.

🧐 It appears that it may have a pea comb, which Australorps definitely don't have.

Hard to tell for sure in the pic, but it looks like it may have a pea comb, most likely not an Australorp.

I’ve seen Black Prairie Bluebell Eggers mixed in with Australorp chicks at the feed stores, however, even they usually have a little more white on the underside/belly.

Does it have muffs on the cheaks? What color are the legs/feet?

No muffs on the cheeks. Her feet are dark on top and pale on the bottom. She does have a spot on her rump which i have a photo of

I'm sorry, I had to take a break from posting this weekend.

I'm not the expert at ID'ing chicks that some people are, but my default for mystery chicks that don't match anything has become "Olive Egger".

It might be easier to ID once it's fully feathered.
