French copper marans didn’t cross my mind, but the chick came out of a light cream coloured egg. Don’t marans hatch from dark brown eggs? They look like a French cooper marans.

Hi there! I just read an article about cheek color and egg color. It sounded a bit out there lol! I’ll try to locate it. The author said she was dubious at first but came away a firm believerI love this picture! Now don’t laugh at me. I’m going back to the earlobe statement you made. If you were serious then about some of them having white earlobes. What color eggs do they lay? Any color differences like major color differences than the ones with the what red earlobes I’m assuming? Mine are not real read yet because they are young yet. They are still sort of fleshy colored. I’m testing a theory belonging to someone else not me. I have to find it again if I can but his theory was that those chickens with Red earlobes and combs/etc would lay blue-green eggs. Then those chickens with flesh or buff colored ears and combs etc would lay brown eggs. With the majority of the colors laying brown or white eggs.
You're right. So it could be a cross, but chances are it's another breed.French copper marans didn’t cross my mind, but the chick came out of a light cream coloured egg. Don’t marans hatch from dark brown eggs?
I’ll contact the seller and ask if she has any other breeds in with her Orpington’sIf the dad was a Maran, and the mother something else, you could have it hatch out of a cream egg.
Most lay a chocolate egg. Occasionally you’ll get a hen who doesn’t follow the rules. You’ve gotten me very curious and will have to keep posting as they growFrench copper marans didn’t cross my mind, but the chick came out of a light cream coloured egg. Don’t marans hatch from dark brown eggs?
Deal. I’m totally curiosity peaked. Can’t wait for all mine to lay but the Orpingtons take up to 24 weeks right? Most lay a chocolate egg. Occasionally you’ll get a hen who doesn’t follow the rules. You’ve gotten me very curious and will have to keep posting as they grow

In my experience, a Maran that doesn't lay a dark brown egg....isn't a Maran. Most lay a chocolate egg. Occasionally you’ll get a hen who doesn’t follow the rules. You’ve gotten me very curious and will have to keep posting as they grow
