I was trying to wait to see, but I am not known for my patience. "Spunky" is one of my Blue Andalusians. She(?) is 7 1/2 weeks old in the pic and is supposed to be a pullet. I ordered her, plus my others, including another BA, from MPC. I'm concerned that she might be a he, because of her comb development. She definately is a little bigger than Venus, my other BA, but I can't really compare her to, her, because Venus was very slow to develop. She, Venus, is about a week behind everyone else. Now they are almost the same size, but Spunky is still a littler bigger. Of course, this is my first time raising chicks, so I really don't have the experience to tell. The first two pics are of Spunky, the one in question, and the third is of Venus, just in case. But again, not sure I can compare the two, because Venus seems to be developing much slower than everyone(the others are EEs and a WPR, which I know are bigger breeds, anyway).
Thanks for any input!!!

I don't know anything about Blue Andalusians, specifically, but i would have to say that Spunky definitely looks male.

The feather colors look very different from each other. Is that an indicator for this breed?

I do know that they can come in either Blue, Black or Splash (Blue/black "splashed" on white, I think) So the color is fine. I know, Spunky's comb looks huge. Looking at pics of other BA hens, they do have rather large combs though. That is kind of throwing me.

Thank you for the compliments on Venus. I think she is very pretty too. She was one that I wasn't sure was going to make it, because she wasn't as vigourous as the rest when I got her. I had to hand feed/water her in the beginning, then continue to crumble up her food, because she was not eating it. I guess maybe that is why I thought she was growing slower than everyone else. Not only that, her feather development seemed to be about a week behind everyone else's. I am not sure how fast Andalusians develop. I only have EEs to compare to. Spunky grew at the same rate as them. Maybe BA pullets develop much slower? I'm really hoping Spunky is a girl. I had no intentions of having (another) rooster. I "adopted"one from my neighbor who had to rid herself of one too many roosters. Kind of wishing I hadn't. He's been a little more trouble than I planned on, and he always wants to try to go back to his old home( after almost 3 months!). Definatel don't need TWO roos either! Oh well, cross that bridge when I get there. Is anyone familiar with the development of BAs? I know that roos usually develop faster than pullets, but do BA pullets develop slower than other breeds?
