Is this baby peacock a male or female?

Hello, I am a brand new Mama of two peachicks. I have wanted a Peacock most of my adult life and finally live in a place where I can give the best home for them. I am so excited to have them but I would like to know if someone can please help me with gender? As I said I am brand new at this and welcome any help I can get. The two that we have are very sweet. My 11 year old loves them and has really stwpped up in helping me with them and they seem to love him as they run to him when they see him coming to the pen. Here they are. We have not named them yet and just call them babies because we don't know what they are. Feel free to give your opinion.

They look pretty young. I recently purchased my first two peacocks this year too and when I first posted pics of them everyone thought they were both male, but they were really young. Once they were about 10, 11 weeks old I noticed the one I original thought was a female based off body size and then leg and feet size (males feet are bigger and he was a little larger, this is how I picked them out) was starting to lose some of her barring on her wings. I was so disappointed to hear I had to males, but then once they got a bit older I realized that they were a male, female pair. Here is a pic of them when they were younger (about 8 or 9 weeks) and then a pic when they were about 10, 11 weeks old.
You can see just over a week or two how much barring my female lost where the male kept all his barring. I would say wait until they are a little older to be sure of their genders, otherwise it's anybody's guess. As I said, I was told mine were both male and it turns out they're one of each. Here is a pic I took off an early conversation here, maybe it'll help you.

Agreed it is hard to say for sure when they are really young. Sometimes the peahens will lose their barring quickly and sometimes it takes them a while to lose it. Just monitor their barring pattern and if any of them grows in new feathers with less barring it might be a female. I have a peachick that maybe around the beggining of month three I was able to tell that the peachick was female.

There is always the option to DNA sex the peachicks if you don't want to wait. ;)

You're very welcome! Enjoy those babies, they're lots of fun to have and they're such beautiful birds!

I would say for IBs the youngest you could sex them and be very accurate is three weeks old.

This post is really helpful - currently trying to sex Ripley (4 months old) - she /he has started to develop greenish neck feathers...any more experienced views?

Welcome to BYC! Based on the one BS that I raised, I would guess male.
