Is this BS a boy or girl?

My daughter picked this little one up and we were told it a black shoulder. Can any one tell me if its male or female or is it to young to tell?

Well, that was my next question. The guy had so many I'm not sure he even knew.

I bought 3 others that were with it but they are twice the size.and not BS.

I can't say what color the BS is, but I think it is a male by the black feathers under your thumb.

The first IB is a hen.

They all look like low% Spaulding hens to me. Blackshoulder males darken quicker than females so too dark for a female not an exact science though.

Is low% Spaulding good?whats the difference between spauldings and the others? I'm fairly new to the pea world and my kids wanted blues to run the farm. I guess it's good only ones male.
