My poor girl, Sugar, had a bad case of bumblefoot a few months ago. She ended up having a toe amputated.

She was doing really well, until I noticed her limping. Her ankle is a bit swollen, but not hard (soft tissue). The lesion on her foot looks "wet" in the attached image, but is fact very dry.

I can give her metacam, I still have baytril, but I really don't think that would work very well.

I also have neospirin, and vet wrap.

Is this bumblefoot or a bad scrape?

Yes, I guess, but $$ is tight since I've been out of work due to COVID. And I have already spent thousands on this very duck since May.

I’m just worried about this spreading to another toe. She cannot afford to lose another one.

i wrapped it as best as I could with one hand, with sanitary gauze, neospirin. I tried to give her metacam, but I lost the syringe in the straw.

i did call the vet office, and they’re pretty booked, but I’m dropping her off Wednesday am and they’ll call me with information. Poor sweet girl.

I’ve never heard of that. I’ll look it up. Can you share how you treated this?

I am just applying it topically after the daily swim. I do an Epsom soak after the swim and apply the Lugols iodine topically.

Lugols solution is the proper name for IKI, or Iodine w/ Potassium Iodide. One of it's slang names is 'monkey blood'. Used to be a staple in every medicine cabinet. It's uses go back to the dawn of medicine in Greece and Hippocrates. Elemental iodine is a metal that sublimates at room temperature/pressure. It's not soluble in water without potassium iodide. They charge a LOT for it, so I make my own. Took 50mg myself this morning. Here's my cousin Tony in Toronto to tell you more about this;

Great news! Vet said not bumblefoot, but bad abrasion. She’s got her foot wrapped up very well, and she’ll spend a week inside the duck barn. Metacam for anti inflammatory. So glad she doesn’t have to have surgery and a 4 week recovery after all she’s been through this Spring.
