Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. It looks like you did a great job treating your hen's bumblefoot. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with the complete recovery of your hen's foot.

We opened it up yesterday to check the healing and freshen up the bandages (two days after the initial operation). Does it look like we got it all? Should we just keep cleaning it with iodine and Neosporin and let it heal? (What would happen if we didn't get it all...would it just form another black scab like before?)

We're just worried about our poor little girl here. She's been such a trooper!

Thank you!

Looks pretty good. Time will tell. If you didn't it will swell again. I keep treating and bandaging until there is no broken skin. That is how the staff got in in the first place.

Hi everyone. So excited to chance upon this site. I was a backyard chickener but I was new at it and needed a coup for them. I had a nice cage setup until they got to big for it. I ended up giving away the most beautiful hens and one honery rooster that didnt like men. Lol. They got flogged almost every time but he never got me. I am ready to try again. Mine were pets. The rooster would get up under my hair on my shoulder and go to sleep. I miss him. He was a beauty. Anyway, thank you very much . I have a lot to learn and this looks like the place to do it.

Miss Marple is still favoring the foot a bit, but it looks much better all healed over. No swelling. Thanks again, all!

Thanks for the update! If you have any more issues, you know where we are!

I hope she continues to make a full recovery. :-)
