Hi ya'll, she is a cross variety. Her feathers are barred and not laced like a partridge and the brown red are basically solid in color except the hackles (neck feathers). Barred cochins are only black and white (stripes). I'm quite familiar with all of the colors of cochins but just to be sure I wasn't wrong I looked in the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection. Boy, everyone should have this great book. I raise partridge cochins and that is what that bird is. I don't care what any book says, they all look a little different as they are growing and putting on new feathers. They are a very beautiful bird.
I am glad that this was posted since I have what I thought were 3 partridge cochins, but their feather patterns did look odd. They are now 8 weeks and look just like the original poster's pullet.
