Another girl figured out how to escape that horrible pen we have them in. This girl is a little harder to catch. Enjoying my overgrown garden. Tomatoes on the left, raspberries on the right.

My day has not gone as planned... in pictures, video and necessary descriptions!

I was looking in this old chemigation tank, turned into, first a dog house, now straw and miscellaneous storage, for a roost bar, that I know is out here somewhere. I hear some noise above my head.

This girl has unwittingly shown me where they are getting out of the pen.

What you doing in there Darlin?

I just want to lay an egg mom and then get my well deserved reward in the garden.

30 eggs! I thought I was getting fewer than I should be!

Let's see what I can do about this!

A ladder... thanks mom that's so nice of you to help a girl out!

Finally hubs brings What we need to block their escape route. Added some hog panel, offset with the openings.

Pip kitty came to supervise.

I caught her and placed her in the coop at least 5 times before we finally got her blocked. Persistent girl!

She needed to get that egg laid, in her preferred spot... silly girl.
After all of that, she was out again yesterday. There was one more spot that I was hoping she couldn't get to, at least I hope that's where it was, so, I need to get it blocked. If that doesn't work, I will have to clip one of her wings.

Are they locked up for a reason? You did say something about “horrible” so maybe I missed something…

I was just being goofy and speaking for the hen thinking her pen is horrible (not) and she had to get out and enjoy that garden, the grass is greener...lol. They have a lot of room to roam. Locked up to keep them safe. I wish I could let them roam our whole yard.
