When I was a beginner I found a abandoned Canadian goose egg and it started hatching beak and all but it still need time to detach from the egg I shouldn't have let anyone do anything but taken in mind I was like 12 I didn't know it was my first hatching really for geese . It died the next day

So sorry about your loss.

I understand your frustration and sadness.

But unfortunately in our need to help sometimes we don't do the right thing.

When you get more experience with ducks and geese you will learn that even in the egg the animals are quite intelligent and know what they need to do.

It's a tough lesson to learn because those of us who love the animals so much have a strong desire to assist.

Don't give up. Try again. You sound like you will make a great duck momma. And the animals need that.

So the best thing to do is not interfere at all? Just let the ducklings hatch themselves under the chicken?
