Hi everyone!

After wanting a blue hen for sooo long, I picked up this beautiful little bird yesterday.... but I'm a little worried about her comb. It looks a little bit too pink and developed for an 8 week-old pullet. Also, is it a pea comb?? Seems to be spikier than the other peas I've seen.
She doesn't seem to have any rooster feathering; her hackle feathers are rounded. Thoughts?

Looks like my roo that was stolen a few eeks ago. Took forever to figure out at first. Then he crowed.

Maybe Illa will see this. She's spot on.

I would have to say it looks like a roo, too. I would agree with you on the comb. That is not a normal pea comb. It looks like what you would get breeding a pea combed bird with a single combed bird. I'm guessing it's a barnyard cross.

The coloring looks female... I've never seen a blue roo without darkened hackle/saddle feathers. However, that comb looks pronounced....

And yes, an EE. That looks like a peaXstraight comb.

Thanks for all the replies! I'll keep updating as s/he gets older.

About that comb, it does look like the descriptions of singleXpea that I just looked up. Interesting. If this chick does turn into a pullet (fingers crossed), I wonder what color egg she'll lay?

I think the comb is too small for an 8 week old to be a roo.... I vote pullet. At 8 weeks my EE girls are pinking up too. At 5 weeks my EE boys were pinking up and were getting wide as well.
