Olive egger. Possibly first egg. Never seen her in nest. Got home found her in n squat position and n corner of run. And covered in mud (from a mean ass roo who has since just met the dirty end of the 410)

anyway ive been watching her for the past 2 weeks interested in laying but not serious. Then get home today find this. I have her separated rite now. Any assistance appreciated . The egg does not feel solid, but her vent is closed tight. I squeezed it some and a clump of white hardened poo shot out. Followed by normal poo.

If you suspect a stuck egg, and that can happen with a new layer, give her a calcium tablet immediately. That will encourage strong contractions to expel the egg.

It would be best to bring her in to an infirmiry crate with absorbent towels. That way you will see what comes out. If it's a broken egg, meaning just a collapsed membrane, she will need to pass the rest of the egg contents, and it might take overnight. She will also need an oral antibiotic if the egg collapsed inside spreading yolk into the oviduct which sets things up for infection.

Provide plenty of water to drink so she doesn't get dehydrated.

If this is just vent gleet, the treatment for a collapsed egg will do no harm.

What most people think is vent gleet is just poop. Vent gleet has a very awful odor. Does your hen smell bad? Is her butt skin red and raw? If none of that is present, it probably is just a discharge from a stuck egg, which if you suspect even a little bit, you should treat. She could die if she has a stuck egg. Vent gleet won't kill her.

If she has vent gleet, you will need to treat with an anti-yeast med.

It had a bit of odor when i popped the hard clump out. Like i said her vent is closed tight. Im scared im gona rip her if i try to open / spread it.
