Same! With my bantams at least. Everyone of them was broody last year, it only took one vacation where the person forgot to collect eggs.
I've got an EE, Orpington mix, & Project Wheaten Crele Orpington hen broody, I believe it's the first time for all 3.(I meant 3 broodies, in my post)

Hens that hoard eggs annoys me abit. But I can't imagine a whole coop being broody.
 
It's very real, it's called Double Oviposition and about 13% of highly productive hens show this, but it could be lower on backyard hens
But still.....they may have 2 working ovaries, but still only 1 downstream processing system.
 
On single Oviposition? Yes. But on Double Oviposition one egg is deposited on the same day within 4 hours of each other.
So with double oviposition they have speedier but still complete shelling?
