i’m in a duck group that i think is spreading fake info about the care of ducks. here is a few of the things they said that i don’t understand please tell me what u think -

1) rescuing a DOMESTIC dumped ducks is illegal and once they are released they are considered wild and you can get arrested for helping them. leave them to die
2) all duck food is horrible for ducks (except ONLY mazuri maintence, even mazuri breeder and starter is horrible) and they need to have around 13-15% protein feed or they can die early.
3) tomatoes are horrible for ducks and are very toxic (not the plants, the actual tomato) and will cause soft shell eggs and more health problems
4) ducks only have a 3 month memory and forget everything after that time no matter what
5) it’s apparently okay to keep a single duck

there is a LOT more that doesn’t make sense either, and i feel like the group “admin” doesn’t have much experience with ducks anyways

Yeahh, that is def. fake info. #5 just shows that that is fake info. I have 2 ducks, one of which is broody, and the other is SUPER lonely even though she is surrounded by chickens, and I've fed my ducks tomatoes before I think.

1,2,4, aren't true, 3 is partly true because unripe tomatoes are poisonous for ducks but ripe tomatoes are perfectly fine. For 5, you could keep a single duck, but it just isn't the same for the duck especially if you don't have time to be with the duck very often (like the duck would have to be a house duck and you would have to be home all day) and I would never recommend it.

Okay I’m not a pro at ducks...but I can assure you they can have different foods. Mine are fed 5-way scratch. Also....it’s said it’s best to have six ducks. This site is definitely sketch...

they said ripe tomatoes are toxic. which i’ve fed mine literally since they were a month old and my oldest are almost two and completely fine
