is this fake info?

i bring my ducks indoors too but i know ducks should spend lots of time outdoors and being inside all day just isn’t good for them
I think that I would love to have a house bird (duck or not) but I wouldn't even consider it unless I could give the bird access to an outdoor run. The exception of this is if the bird had a severe disability.

a disability is different though, since the duck would not be able to be a normal duck. a healthy duck should have atleast one other duck friend and lots of outdoor time

We had a crossbeaked chick that was a house chicken until she passed, and have a lame gal that thinks she's a house chicken

I should have clarified: house birds plural. Probably something very small. I would never have any unless they had full access to a large outdoor run all day. I was saying that keeping a house bird would be different if it had a disability.

I gave my nine ducks 4lbs of tomatoes earlier today 😂. It’s the end of my tomato season so I give them all the ones I can’t use in canning/preserving. I also feed them the scraps from my canning/processing. They love it and go nuts. 😊

of course there is some animals that can and/or be housed alone but i’m happy most people understand ducks aren’t one

i’m in a duck group that i think is spreading fake info about the care of ducks. here is a few of the things they said that i don’t understand please tell me what u think -

1) rescuing a DOMESTIC dumped ducks is illegal and once they are released they are considered wild and you can get arrested for helping them. leave them to die
2) all duck food is horrible for ducks (except ONLY mazuri maintence, even mazuri breeder and starter is horrible) and they need to have around 13-15% protein feed or they can die early.
3) tomatoes are horrible for ducks and are very toxic (not the plants, the actual tomato) and will cause soft shell eggs and more health problems
4) ducks only have a 3 month memory and forget everything after that time no matter what
5) it’s apparently okay to keep a single duck

there is a LOT more that doesn’t make sense either, and i feel like the group “admin” doesn’t have much experience with ducks anyways
1) I've never heard of this law. If you are worried about it I would contact fish and wildlife where you live to make sure you won't be arrested. Personally, I would just rescue the duck.
2) The 2 avian vets I see both recommend I use Mazuri waterfowl breeder for my laying ducks. I trust them over random internet people. They have degrees and experience.
3) I've never asked my vets about tomatoes, but they definitely know tomatoes are my ducks favorite snack food and that I give their daily medicine inside grape tomatoes. If tomatoes were "very toxic" I'm sure they would say something.
4) My ducks are very shy of new people. My stepson went away to college for longer than 3 months. When he came back my ducks waddled right over to him and demanded treats like he never left. I've heard multiple stories from other people on here that are similar.
5) Sometimes I have to keep one of my ducks inside and separated from their "sisters" while they recover from illness or surgery. They do very poorly apart from their flock. Perhaps some individual birds can thrive as single ducks if they are imprinted on a human, not interested in other ducks, and their human stays with them all day and night. It's hard to imagine this situation being optimal-but I can see it being possible. I still think the best thing for a duck is duck friends. They are clearly flock animals, in my opinion.
