Went to the feed store today to get our hens feed and grabbed a 3 10lb bags of chick starter as we gave eggs in the incubator now. When I got to the register the owner said o I can save tou some money and talked my into buying something I'm not sure is going ro be OK. Per the instructions it says 6 week chicks ?? Is this safe for newborn chicks or should I take it back and go for the chick starter..

The protein is ok, but the feed is for meat birds and older chicks. I would offer grit to the chicks, to help them digest the food.

Perfectly safe. I'm generally fond of Kalmbach products (though I don't use them myself), but your birds would definitely benefit from higher Methionine levels. 0.3% is considered the (old) minimum recommend for adult laying hens. I like to see 0.4 - 0.45% in a starter feed.

Im debating taking it back and going with the smaller backs of kalmbach for my piece of mind
