I was admiring my chickens finally finding the other side of our yard and then saw a spot on my largest males waddles and another on a female.

Turns out the females comb had an injury so that made me less worried but I’ve never seen this before. His waddles are admired daily by us but we don’t hold our chickens since they free range.

We have a ton of mosquitoes however and I wouldn’t doubt we might come across this in the further .
Are there any safe ways to eliminate mosquitoes from the yard that still makes it possible for the chickens to free range?? Without taking out good bugs???
We’ve planted herbs and flowers but we live in the deep woods it’s just not gonna have the power we want or need.

He acts completely fine and eats and drinks and is healthy but wtf is this?! It doesn’t seem like a scab or injury. But I also didn’t grab him cause my toddler would of chased him off before I had a chance so this is the best photos I have so far and can get more when they coop up or when my husband can help.

That could be a peck injury. You can treat the inside of your coop with Martins or Gordons Permethrin 10 spray mixed according to instructions inside the label. Evenings inside the coop might be a problem with mosquitoes. But outside, the mosquitoes may not be a problem during the daytime, and I would not use the spray outside the coop. There is a fowl pox vaccine available from Valleyvet.com that you might want to check out. Read post 9 for some links about fowl pox with pictures:

Here is some info on the vaccine:
