I see nothing prolapsing. This is more what I’m worried about circled in black. There is poop on it but what is underneath looks necrotic. Which I fear is her tail.Is she able to poop? Can you see yet if it is a prolapse or something else? Any more pictures? Here are pictures of a typical prolapse and one that may include an egg inside:
That is odd...looks like something attached to skin rather than skin/tissue itself. That area circled in back is my concern also. I’m going to do all of the above mentioned things.
She is eating and drinking. I gave her some cottage cheese with crushed oyster shell in it because initially I thought it was egg bound. Her abdomen is distended and she is sitting up tall like an owl and trying to contract something out at times. She ate that very quickly and wanted more. She is pooping also. I used permethrin dust around her vent also. Keeping her in a laundry basket in the house tonight.Where are you located? Has it been very cold yet? Hopefully, this is just a little build up of crud back there, and she will be fine in a few days. Sometimes they can get pecked around the vent, and some hens can have vent gleet, a fungal infection. Glad that it wasn’t a prolapse. Let us know later if she is eating and drinking.
