Solved Is this how my email address was spread about?

Hi guys, I've got a bit of an issues, and I'm not sure where it started. In the privacy settings, I thought I had my account locked down pretty good. However, after the update I noticed there was the setting for "View your identities" and it was set to "All visitors." So I set it to "Nobody" and went about my business.

My issue is that my email has been given out somewhere on the web, and I'm just wondering if that is why. I've been receiving random email from people wanting to buy birds from me, though I've never advertised any birds for sale. So, would someone tell me what exactly "View your identities" mean please?

The forum software supports the linking of usernames on social media sites on your profile, like Twitter and Facebook, and those who have that permission would be able to view them.
