Is this lice or mites?

Found them on my silkie when I was bathing her.

Probably you are seeing lice, especially if there are small clumps of white eggs at the base of feathers. Either way Permethrin will kill both and is safe to use on chickens. The 10% for dilution is more economical and it can be mixed in 5% or 10% strengths to spray both the chickens and the coop, roosts, and nests. But the garden dust may be used during very cold weather. Here is some reading:

Thanks I picked up some permethrin to spray down the coop. I have ivermectin I use for the birds and it's worked in the past they keep getting infestations. I think it's from the wild birds stealing there food. Not sure what to do but move them back to the coop.

Thanks. They have been treated and the coop cleaned out. Hopefully this time the little bugs stay away. My whole flock already looks much happier!
