I have assisted ones that weren't meant to be too. I think I would in future again too even if I know one that can't make it will most likely be too weak and trust me you don't want to deal with weak chicks. Well you will see, they make a lot of noise and break your heart.
 
I'm sorry about your chick.
I've assisted before... But the chick wasn't deformed- she was just small. All I did was open up the zip a bit (she zipped wrong) after 12hrs. and she managed to do the rest. She survived.
I think all of us have to know when to assist... And what chicks would actually benefit from being assisted.
It was your first time, go easy on yourself. Good luck with your 3 chickies
 
Thank you all for your kind responses.🤗 My husband graciously culled the little fluff for me. 😓 I couldn't bring myself to do it. I'm still sad I happened to hear it chirping before he did the deed. But at least it's not suffering anymore. ❤
