The Naturally Free Organic Layer and 3-Grain Scratch I buy is corn free. I have only been adding 5% cracked corn to their dry feed which I planned on running through the winter months. I have however considered cutting back to just about 2.5% cracked corn in their feed. They do not get the scratch everyday. On days I know they are going to be able to free range I do not put any down, on days I know they are going to be confined to the run I put some down but only 1/8 cup throughout a 9'x9' run, for the winter I have my run covered with about 4-6 inches of straw and I have been raking the scratch into the straw. This is just enough to give them something to do foraging through the straw for a little scratch on these long boring winter days when they are confined. Thanks again for all of your advice. I will make a update once I have confirmed but I am 99% positive there is nothing else going on with my barred but molting. I spent much time with her yesterday and she has now dropped a few tail feathers and beginning to drop feathers around her neck and chest.I would still be inclined to cut out the cracked corn or scratch or even both since you are giving them plenty of other treats.
