Is this nest safe for the chicks?

My Serama hen hatched out 5 chicks yesterday. She is a bit more clever than the others and a greater hider of nests. This time, she built it in some cardboard boxes that were piled up - she has about a 6" square nest in a space inside 1 box with another box in there, too. She has been safe and cosy in the box, but it is in a higher box and it is about 12-18 inches off he floor, and the sides make it almost a 2 foot drop to the floor.

How is she going to get the chicks out of there, and then back in at night? They only hatched yesterday so she didn't try. Should I lift them out for her? Put them back in, at night? It would be difficult when I go to work on Tuesday. Or do they have some way of doing it?

I'd appreciate any advice, or even someone saying they had the same problem. I would hate to lose those babies.

Chicks can definitely fall a couple feet without being hurt. She'll take them out when she's ready. Then she'll have to find another nest, because they won't be getting back into that one. She'll probably find a nest as close to the original one as possible, but ground-level.

EDT: I just re-read your post. So there's a four-or-so inch lip that the chicks are going to have to get over? Yeah, you'll probably have to lift them out of there.
