I'm using my own Cayuga duck eggs that I got my my drake and hen. I'm not sure what breed of hen I'm using but she has a mix of orange and white feathers along with a small comb that's looks like a bunch of mini sharpish edgesWhat kind of hen are you using and what breed of ducks
I check on her and the eggs often. While the eggs are almost done hatching should I bring them inside and then when I finish I give it back to her?Has your hen ever hatched out anything before? If not, I'd be sure to check on them often. Some hens are not very good mothers but they're good sitters and vice versa. I'd hate for anything to happen to your ducklings. This isn't common, but it can happen. You don't want to stress her and cause any stress related behaviors that could result in her attacking the ducklings.
I don't know if I'd do that. That will be very stressful for her. Hopefully @WVduckchick will offer her advice soon. I can't think of anyone that let's their chicken hatch their ducklings and I know that many folks do this. I'm so sorryI check on her and the eggs often. This is her first time hatching ANY type of bird so I'm gonna let her keep itExcellent!! Are you going to let the hen keep the duckling? Or does she have other chicks too?
