Is this normal or the start of something?

I've noticed this kind of bulge beside the eyes of two of my chickens. It is even on both sides. It's hard to tell if my other chickens have the same bulge because they're all crested and bearded.

Their behaviour is normal, they're eating and drinking fine and quite energetic, and I haven't noticed any kind of discharge from either of them, but I do feel like these bulges weren't there until quite recently so I'm still concerned for them in that sense 🥺 Any ideas on what it is or whether it's normal would be appreciated

If they expand and contract as the chicken breathes, they're part of the way chickens pull air in and out of their nares.
I have noticed the flatter parts of their faces expand and contract while they breathe but the bulges seem to stay the same

Then you need to see if they could be eye worms. What is your location? Are you in a tropical zone?

Put a slight pressure on the bulge and press toward the eye. If there are eye worms, you should see one or two appear at the edge of the eye.

I live in San Jose California. I haven't been able to see any worm-like things in their eyes

As long as the chickens are behaving normally, there probably isn't anything serious. Just keep an eye on this and if the swelling increases, then we'll maybe have more to go on and can figure it out.
