Is this normal?

Flossy is limping, can't put any weight on her right foot. I've tried to see if something was in it & I've doctored it like crazy... trying to prevent bumblefoot...again. Also Felix has a few spots on his feet I didn't know about.. what do I do? Antibiotics?

Red spots, black spots? Are we seeing some foot problems due to cold temperatures?

Red spots, black spots?  Are we seeing some foot problems due to cold temperatures?

We're in SE North Carolina, so it's never really extremely cold. It was 70° Sat. 76° Sun. & today it's like 40°. However when it's cold like today...I don't give them their pool.-- Flossy has a sore on her foot, it's a little red like she stepped on something/got something in it. I am doctoring it like crazy, because she still has a bumble spot on her other foot. We're trying to let it work itself put w/out doing surgery. Yesterday I decided to just look at Felix's feet bc I was doctoring Flossy & I found he has 3 spots on one foot & 4 on the other. I had NO idea they were there. He doesn't limp or act bothered whatsoever. All of them are pretty small & all down the middle of the foot. They are black... looks pretty much like bumble spots. I feel so terrible, I didn't know about them! What's the best thing to do at this point? The whole infection thing terrifies me...

Hugs!

Can you get a photo? I am on email right now, so please let me know if you took photo's and I just missed them. I need to be at a meeting right now, I will check back when I can.

It may not be bumblefoot - sometimes ducks get callouses. Hang in there, duck mom! The first months can be very stressful when we care so much!

It has been cold & rainy today, & with Flossys foot being so sore, I opted to keep them in their pin today. I will get you pictures in the morning bright & early! Thanks for the support! Xo.

OK this is my girls foot she isn't putting any weight on. She's limping still... I can't seem to find the problem. It's not broken. Nothing feels dislocated, & I can't find anything in it! The middle of her foot seems swollen today.

At this point, I would check to see if her foot or leg feels especially warm compared to the other. I would get some ointment, like T Relief, that is anti-inflammatory. I would add a half a teaspoon of turmeric to the food daily (be careful it stains) as it is mildly anti-inflammatory as well. And watch her. I forgot what your weather is like . . . please bear with me. If there is much ice and cold ground, sometimes joints will react to that in people, and I reckon it could be the same with ducks.

It could be cold related, it could be the bumblefoot may be trying to make a comeback. If you can stay ahead of it, she should be okay . . . But without being there, and since I am not a duck vet, I cannot give you 100% diagnosis. And I know that's not what you expect. I wish I could, though.

Sunday is was hot.. but it's not especially warmer than the other now... maybe a little, but not drastic. I've been putting her in a Epson bath...spraying with Vetericyn...putting ointment on it. I let her out long enough to get a quick bath & put them back up...so she will stay off of it. Even carried her to & from their pin. I just don't know... it was literally over night. I wrapped it today, but she kicked it off. Where can I find the turmeric & t-relief? Ag Supply? Thanks for all your help. It's just nice to be able to talk to someone who doesn't say "they are ducks, Paige. They will be fine. What do you think they do in the wild? Blah blah blah..." :::eyeroll:::
