Two of my buff orpingtons develped some feathers on their wings and I noticed black spots on them. Nowhere else. None on their newly developed tail feathers or anywhere else on their bodies just wings. I panicked and of course google gives me mites as an answer but after some deep searching I saw some relatable images as a “defect” in buffs. Because they are supposed to be of course all buff. Won’t effect eggs or anything like that I guess just can’t be a “show bird” which is not my goals for these layers anyways. I did calmly and gently spread her new wing feathers looking for anything mite related but can’t see anything. Just curious on your thoughts as this is my 1st flock and I’ll probably have a billion questions sorry 🤷‍♀️🐥

If you are talking about the slightly darker area on her wings, my 3 week old buff orpington looks exactly the same. I think it's pretty actually and makes her even more interesting looking to me.

I do love it. Definitely not complaining just hope she’s ok.

It's easy to overthink things, I do it all the time :). The black dots the web site said were mites move so I don't think you need to be concerned.

Welcome home Rhode Island reds 🥰🐥
