Is this normal?

I hope he can hold out for a week or too. I understand what the vet is says though. Bless his heart. And yours :hugsfor Ruby to be so young an possibly have cancer is so sad. Thanks for updating.
Now I am just so over worried about Max that I have to ask.. from day one I have been able to hear him breath.. kinda like a stuffy nose but his nostrils ,I guess they are called ,are clear .. now I was never able to hear Ruby breath until Saturday and she had issues obviously but do some ducks just breath loud and some not? Sorry I am just a bit freaked out and you guys have all been so helpful I really appreciate it

I assume you are providing nose deep water 24/7. If he doesn't appear to be showing any other symptoms I wouldn't be concerned, I believe I had a Pekin that breathed somewhat hard most of her life, no open mouth breathing, just through her nostrils.

Yes he has access to nose deep water at all times and no open mouth breathing. Thank you 😊

I'm sorry about your girl. I know it's heartbreaking but I wanted to give you a bit of hope for Max. One of the members on here @Donnalovesducks posted that her pekin drake died during surgery and her pekin female was devastated. She just was so depressed she didn't want to do much of anything so she asked if anyone had a drake. I had 3 and really didn't need that many but he was a chocolate/black Indian runner and not a pekin.

To make a long story short. Donna came and took my Patches to his new home and it was a love story right from start. Now they are inseparable and happy. Look how little he is compared to her!

Thank you all for the kind words. Idk who this has been harder on ..me or Max😭 but he is doing good and the vet verified Friday after testing the slides she took that it was not viral or bacterial so I didn't do anything wrong and other ducks should be fine so Max has 2 new friends coming today from a lady who can't keep the babies she got . She didn't realize how much space they would need :( and she is super sad to have to get rid of them so I have promised her lots of pics and updates and hopefully they will all be happy together.
