I’ve noticed this for awhile with one of our pekins but haven’t been able to catch it on camera. I didn’t know if anyone else’s ducks did this or if this is a sign of something going on that needs to be checked out. She seems ok otherwise but always does this head bobbing thing.

The head bobbing is a way of communicating an could also be flirting. It's normal and usually means they're happy
Well good deal! I didn’t raise her from a chick so I didn’t know if she had any underlying issues. So I’m happy to hear it’s normal and she’s most likely happy! 😍

I think if there was more water in the pool, it would look more like bobbing and splashing instead of scary head jerking haha

I can totally see why you'd be worried, but it's a sign of a happy duck for sure.

This is a video I took of my happy ducks just this morning. Bobbing and splashing all over the place 😍

Well she does it when she isn’t in water too..I guess that’s why I didn’t think it was normal?

Oh for sure, I think I would be weirded out too. Does she do it with the other ducks? How old is she?

I only ask because my flock is still really young and I haven't seen that behaviour outside of when they're swimming. Maybe it's flirting and mine aren't there yet haha

They’re a little over 3 months. I don’t know when that all starts either but I’ve noticed it for about a month now. She does it when they all seem to be excited about something.

Bob your head with them. They will bob back at you. It's the cutest thing.
