Is this normal?

Our 5 chicks (2 BO, 1 Barred Rock, 1 RIR 1 Auatralorp) have gone through 50 pounds of food in 4.5 weeks. They scratch a lot of it out of the feeder, but still, that seems excessive. We are feeding them Sprout medicated chick starter from Fleet Farm.
Is it normal to go through this much so quickly? Should I try a different food?

According to a chart I have from a feed bag a chick will eat 4 lbs for the first 8 weeks. So yours will have eaten 20 lbs by 8 weeks. I would put the feeder in a dish to catch they scratch out. I will either reload that in the feeder or make them clean it up before

giving them more.
