I have 3 2 week old chicks in a 50 gallon tub is that okay?

That sounds like enough room to me, but it depends how long you have them in there. Also, they can start flying over the sides if there is no cover. Would you be able to post a picture of your setup?

I have 6 in a horse trough right now .

Is space your concern? I realized I kind of assumed. Do you have specific things you are worried about?
