Is this pasty butt in a chick or just a dirty butt?

Good idea raising the water station.

Hard to know why she's smaller...some chicks seem tiny, then have a growth spurt. If she's eating/drinking and active, the I would just keep watch on her. Sounds like she's doing o.k. on that front.

Is the vent pasting over or just getting dirty?
Temperature does have a bearing on pasty butt, but some chicks do seem to be a bit more messy. You could try probiotics to see if that makes a difference. Does she seem cold or hot?

The first day she wasnt sealed shut she was just dirty. Then she went a couple days fine. Then she was dirty and crusted shut - there was a lot. Yesterday she was just dirty. Today she was crusted over. I dont think shes cold. Attached is what my babies look like now...none seem cold. Piplup does seem to try to snuggle with a bird, any seem to do, she kinda goes up under the taller chicks. But not always...so...idk

Is she directly under the light? She may be slightly chilled.
